TommyLog – ONE YEAR & Counting!

Hey, kids, it’s Dad and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about the last year. 365 days ago I got laid off from my previous job. What an amazing year! You guys have been along for the journey. My ups and my downs. So this is kind of a mini “state of the union” as to where things are at.

When I started out on this journey, I thought that finding that next big job would be difficult, I didn’t think it would be this difficult. A few interviews and a lot of disappointment later, I had to change my tune. One big job is not where I was supposed to be. I’ve decided that two or three smaller part-time gigs are going to be much more effective than one big gig. So I want to tell you about my part-time hustles. I have one part-time job with a company called brand outcomes in Green Bay. I’m working on their brand strategy team. I love the people and I love helping others solve problems.

My next part time job is with a company called World HeadQuarters here in Appleton. I’m helping create the next generation of evolved workspace. Brenda Leopold is the brain child here and she asked me to come on board to help make this happen with her.

What an amazing journey this has been. I promise you, without the help of amazing friends, and a supportive network, this never would’ve happened. Huge shout out to my supportive family and especially my sweetheart. Their support has been amazing!

I am so excited for what the next year awaits for me.

To the moon!!

TommyLog TECH – Amazing Samsung Support #VZWbuzz #AD

Hey Kids, it’s Tommy, and for today’s TommyLog TECH I want to tell you a story. The story starts out very sad. As I begin my tale I need to tell you about my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and someone who put the S ā€“ Pen in wrong. Putting the S ā€“ pen in backwards causes significant problems with the device. One of them is that it will never come out again without permanently damaging the device. I didn’t know what to do. So I decided to chat with Samsung’s online support.

I had no idea the outcome of this process. this was all new territory for me, using Samsung’s tech and repair processes. This story has the happiest of happy endings! I cannot thank Samsung enough for how great they took care of me and how fast the repair was.

Samsung technical support is totally Tommy approved!

TommyLog – When Tragedy Strikes – Show Them You Care

Hey Kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk about how you handle tragedy. I have a really great friend in Utah. She is a counselor at a junior high school. Over the weekend one of her students was killed in a tragic accident. Today she has to go to school and clean up the mess. There will be lots of tears, it will be lots of questions. There will be loads of opportunities to try to help. I know she is at a loss of words to know what to say. I know I certianly would be. I think that is natural. Sometimes we just don’t know what to say. There certainly no Hallmark cards to fit in just particular situation. “I’m sorry that your friend got hit by a car on Halloween.” Not to be callous., but you’re not gonna find cards like that.

So I think the best counsel for her and for everyone is sometimes you don’t need to say anything. Just a loving hug, and maybe if more is needed a “I love you!” That’s going to be sufficient.

We don’t know the grand plan of our loving Heavenly Father. But one thing I do know is that all your training that you’ve had throughout these years– it’s for this one big moment. The next few days are not going to be easy, but know that you’re not in this alone. We’re all behind you pulling. These kids definitely need you, but more importantly don’t forget — you need the kids.

TommyLog – Postcard from a Friend!

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to share with you how much excitement can be generated by sending one simple postcard.

So I have the super awesome friend from Phoenix who went to Disneyland. Not the world, but the land. And she took time out of her busy hectic schedule to send me a personalized card.

How awesome is that?!

This totally brightened my day. Thank you Sara so much. Your thoughtfulness is just tops!

Each morning when the Clifford’s say prayers, I always pray that we will be able to do something for somebody else. Do something special, reach out to somebody else to make their day brighter. This made my day bright.

Thank you!! This rocks!!

Do something special for somebody else. Make a difference in somebody else’s life. Send a postcard. Make a phone call, send an email. Make a difference.

TommyLog – Emma Had a Down Day

Emma this week had a down day. In her first grade room they have a traffic light system for tracking behavior. Each day they start on green, ready to learn. If they’re exceptional it goes up to blue. If they’re having a rough day it goes to Orange, and if it gets worse than that it goes to red which means I have to talk to parents.

Emma had an orange day. When Emma saw her kindergarten teacher Mr. Seelig she told Mr. Seelig about her bad day. Mr. Seelig is so sweet and so kind and just knows exactly how to treat Emma and what Emma needs. Mr. Seelig left the best post-it note on Emma’s desk giving her encouragement and wishing her well. We love Mr. Seelig. He is a true educator and loves kids to the core.

Emma have a good day, I LOVE YOU!
