Hey Kids it’s Tommy, and as many of you all know, I’m pretty engrained in the Macintosh / IOS ecosystem with a MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. You also know the TommyLog studios was infiltrated by an Android powered Moto 360 smart watch provided to me by my great friends at Verizon. So for today’s Tommylog TECH, I want to give you an IOS user’s take on the Moto 360 smart watch. If you are an Android die hard looking for a review with that slant, I’m sorry you will need to look elsewhere. I know there are different features and capabilities that Android users enjoy over the IOS experience dealing with the Moto 360 –but I’m not touching with that here. This is purely my thoughts as an IOS user in a Moto 360 world running the IOS version of the Android Wear App.

LOVES!
–    Round face
–    Interchangeable bracelet
–    Fit and finish / build quality

BEEFS!

TommyLog TECH – Apple Pay vs. Samsung Pay #vzwbuzz #AD

Hey Kids it’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog TECH I want to take a look at and talk about Samsung Pay versus Apple Pay. One has a head-start on the other, and one has some pretty neat features that might surprise you.

As I put the two payment systems head to head,  I talk about what exactly is NFC? Which system is easier to use? What are the differences between Samsung Pay and Apple Pay. Which is the most secure?

Watch the head-to-head showdown to see who wins and which one is Tommy approved.

UPDATE – 11-14-15 – In doing more research, I was wrong about Samsung Pay magnetic secure transmission (MST). It utilized digital tokens and is just as secure as NFC transactions.

TommyLog TECH – Spring Cleaning Your IOS Device

17 Jun
June 17, 2015

Spring CleaningHey kids, it’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog TECH I want to talk about doing a little spring cleaning on your IOS devise. Last night I was watching a movie with my sweetheart on my iPad. A quarter of the way though the movie I got an error message saying that I was out of memory. How could that be?  I have a 32 GB IPad Air and I should have plenty of free storage space.

Well enough of this, I’m going to do some spring cleaning here. What I did applies to any late model IOS device, iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone.

First you need to make sure you have a good backup. I use Apple’s iCloud service  but you can use iTunes too. Here’s a great article from apple on backing up you iDevice https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

After you have verified and backed up your devise you need to reset it. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201274

After resetting, reload your saved settings and apps from either your iCloud or iTunes backup and BAM!

It’s that simple- and welcome back free space 🙂 BEFORE 1.25 GB free space – AFTER 15.4 GB free space.
