Worthless Piece of Paper

Hey Kids, for today’s TommyLog I want to share with you whats it’s like to find out your efforts are worth nothing. Today I received my final ESOP, Employee Stock Option Plan, share information in the mail from my 4 year stint at HC Miller.

What is an ESOP yo ask, well you can either Google it or keep reading. An ESOP is unlike corporations where the profits benefit shareholders, the profits in an ESOP benefit the employee shareholders. Well I was wooed away from my 14 year position at Banta / RR Donnelley to help build something great at Miller.

Well without getting too dirty, things were a lot better on paper than it appeared. Some people got millions and as you can see, I got zero. I sure met some of the GREATEST people i have ever met and worked with, but at the end of it all, as far as building up the Clifford retirement empire, I got zero.

I trusted the wrong people –

DON’T TRUST  THE WRONG PEOPLE!

TommyLog – Being Trustworthy

What does it mean to trust somebody? What does it mean to be trustworthy? We all know people were not trustworthy and can’t be trusted.  It seems to be a lot harder to tell a lie that it is to tell the truth. When you tell a lie, you have to work extra hard covering up your tracks to hide your deceit.

When you are truthful person people know when you lie, your lie spreads like an infection.   People do not want to be around others who do not tell the truth. Honesty is the core of life and people who were not honest, It will come back to haunt you!  That I can promise you.  Surround yourself with people you can trust. Trust for the people are your only way to success.

TommyLog – Things are not as they seem…

Kids, we live in a day and age where people will say and act in a way that’s deceptive. It’s hard to separate the truth from the false. So many stories and so many people telling us what we want to hear. Both at work and on TV. How do we know? You need to trust your heart. If that’s not good enough, trust in the Lord. He has yet to let us down.

TommyLog – How Decisions Hurt Others

Tommy talks about the choices and decisions made at Penn State and how they really hurt so many people. The walls of Penn State are virtually coming down around them with the sad sad news of the sex scandal there. The decision of the university leadership to hide the facts of the case from the public has just made the problem exponentially worse. Similar issues plagued Martha Stewart and the football players for the New Orleans Saints. If they had only told the truth at the onset, would the penalties have been so terrible? What does this say about society as a whole?
