Passion on a 6 Foot Grill

Hey kids, it’s Dad. For today’s Tommylog, I want to tell you about an experience I had on my trip to NW Arkansas. I had the opportunity at eating at a restaurant called Herman’s Ribhouse in Fayetteville.. The story is well worth a listen!

We need more passionate people like Nick and Carrie in our life!

TommyLog – We Need A Lot More Bobs Around Here

Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet master PGA Teacher Bob Burns from Appleton, WI. I listened and was in awe the difference he is making without beloved wounded veterans. Bob helps teach vets who have been injured in the line of duty how to golf. Not just how to golf, but how to overcome things that their services of the country has taken away from them, like a lost limb or joint.

Bob showed me this huge 5″ thick 3-ring binder picture after picture of examples of how he helped soldier after solder. Some with lost legs, and arms. some bound to wheel chairs. Bob custom made golf gloves, braces and clubs for each individual to help them overcome their special needs and situations. Such a small act left such a HUGE impact. The more I looked,  the more the tears came and I just got so emotional seeing the smiles on these vets faces after spending time with Bob.

Bob was awarded 2014 Wisconsin National Guard Association Recognition Award for his service to these veterans.

What an honor it was to meet Bob and to see what he has done for our men and women in the armed services. The world needs a lot more Bobs in it!

I need to be more like Bob!

TommyLog – Moms Just Rock

When I watched replays of the winning putt at the Masters this past weekend, I could not help but notice the first person to congratulate Bubba Watson on his victory was his mother. She came running to his side and offered him a HUGE hug. He broken down in tears and they just melted there for a moment.

What an amazing outpouring of love for ones mom! We all have moms and they are so important. Moms sacrifice so much and what showed on TV needs to be played in every household in the world. We need more love and appreciation for moms and motherhood in general. Not just on mother’s day, but every day.

Huge Storm

Well kids we had a good old fashions thumping storm last evening. Golf ball sized hail, serious wind and rain in buckets. It just poured and poured and the trees were pounded by the hail. You could see accumulation of hail in some spots. This comes the evening after our new North Social media Breakfast in Green bay. I love getting paid to attend these events. This one focused on the financial market. It was wonderful to learn from people in the industry and see how they use social media, WELL DONE!
