I Didn’t Get the Job!
Hey kids, it’s Dad. For today’s Tommylog I want to talk to you about something really great that happen before Thanksgiving. I had the opportunity to apply for a newly opened team lead position at ESKO. I was scared to throw my hat in the ring but I did it. The process was amazing. I was taken seriously the minute I mentioned it to my boss. I talk to my boss in the hiring manager. I even got to have a face-to-face second interview with the hiring manager. What an amazing process. It’s great to work for a company that looks internally for great people and wants to capitalize, showcase and nurture talent.
I didn’t get the job. But that’s OK! The real win here is the fact that I was taken seriously. The management at ESKO knows I’m interested in growth opportunities. They know I don’t want to be a screw turner the rest of my life. They listen to my ideas and I’m excited about the future. The guy who got the job is absolutely spectacular and I couldn’t be more happy for him. I support him 100%.
The people at ESKO are on notice!
Tommy is coming and he’s looking for more responsibility and the opportunity to manage people. I’m thrilled for the doors that are opening up for me.
Make it STOP – Black Friday Madness!
Hey kids, it’s dad. For today’s Tommylog I wanna talk to you about Thanksgiving. I have so many things to be thankful for. We had a wonderful time together. One thing that always follows Thanksgiving it’s Black Friday. Everybody is in the mood for a great deal. It’s stunning the amount of effort people go to to be first in line into work to get these deals. It’s horrible to watch the carnage on TV. Don’t these people realize you can get the same deals online? Why do you go to all the trouble —the elbows to the face, the pushing, the shelving, the fighting? I don’t get it! It’s just horrible!
Please, please, please! Do yourself a favor. Look online. The deals in the stores aren’t that awesome anyway. I promise you. I’ve done the homework. Just stay home, order from the comfort of your warm couch and footie pajamas. You’ll get similar or even better deals.
Black Friday is horrible!
As soon as we stop going, retailers will stop hosting such horrible horrible events!
Can We Skip to the Cookies?
Hey kids, it’s dad. And for today’s Tommylog I want to talk to you about getting to the head of the class. Last week for Drews Cub Scout pack meeting, he saw all the cookies sitting on the table waiting for him. He told mom “Can we skip to 7:15 for the cookies?“ Drew wanted to skip all the hard work and get right to the fun in the spoils of the evening. Sadly it doesn’t work that way.
Who doesn’t want the perks of being the president or CEO of a big company? We’d all like to make millions. We want to be rich. But to do that it requires hard work. We all want what grandma and grandpa have. We see their nice car. We see they own a nice house. But we forget how hard they had to work to get there.
We need to put in the hard work to get the rewards. This is key. There’s no easy way to do that, well unless we win the Powerball :-).
14 Years of Awesome!
Hey, kids, it’s Dad. For today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about a major milestone in my life. Today is my 14th wedding anniversary with my sweetheart Becky. 14 years together. What an amazing accomplishment!
Over the last 14 years, I’ve learned a lot about marriage. Here are some of the things I’ve learned
Number 1 is communication. If you don’t communicate, the relationship is dead. Number 2, always say I love you. Number 3 find middle ground and try to work together. Number 4, always say I’m sorry.
These for keys to success have helped make it 14 years. I love you, Becky, more and more every day.
