Can We Skip to the Cookies?

Hey kids, it’s dad. And for today’s Tommylog I want to talk to you about getting to the head of the class. Last week for Drews Cub Scout pack meeting, he saw all the cookies sitting on the table waiting for him. He told mom “Can we skip to 7:15 for the cookies?“ Drew wanted to skip all the hard work and get right to the fun in the spoils of the evening. Sadly it doesn’t work that way.

Who doesn’t want the perks of being the president or CEO of a big company? We’d all like to make millions. We want to be rich. But to do that it requires hard work. We all want what grandma and grandpa have. We see their nice car. We see they own a nice house. But we forget how hard they had to work to get there.

We need to put in the hard work to get the rewards. This is key. There’s no easy way to do that, well unless we win the Powerball :-).

Cub Scouts and AIM – Throwback Friday

Hey, kids, it’s dad, and for today’s Tommylog I want to talk and wax a little bit nostalgic. This week was a banner week in the Clifford household. I had to go to Scout headquarters and bought Drew his first Scout shirt. The Scout shirt, his bear book, and all the accessories to go along with that. Belt included.

So all this nostalgia really hit home when I got an email today telling me that AOL‘s 20-year-old running AOL Instant Messenger service was shutting down. This made me think about my social media screen name “Tommy TRC“ and where that came from and just was a flash from the past.

Sometimes the more things change, the more they stay the same i.e. the Cub Scout uniform. I love you, kids!

TommyLog: Networking and Good Vibes

My network never seems to amaze me or let me down. I am so blessed by the contacts I have. I attended the New North Social Media Breakfast this morning and it was all about real estate. I know nothing of real estate but it was great to hear how others were using social media tools to help build leads.

Also talked about Tommy’s Cub Scout Arrow of Light and Clara’s big 12 birthday today!!!

Penny Wars for Haiti

Tommy’s Blue and Gold Cub Scout banquet was a hit. So much fun. His cub master of many years stepped down from his post. I have sop much respect and love for people who serve children in that capacity. AMAZING!!! But today’s highlight is the student assembly at Gegan Elementary where it was announced they made $2000.00 in a penny war for Haiti. The generous gift from the folks at Red Shoes PR with a $600 match made it all possible. Of course there were the fine folks at Prospera Credit Union who counted all the loose change. There was a HUGE 3×5 foot check to give to the American Red Cross. Oh man, warm and fuzzies all around.
