Sometimes the Funny Man Cries

Hey, kids, it’s Dad. Today I want to talk about my good friend John and the things I have learned as he dealt with a personal tragedy in his life. John just lost his dear mother to cancer and I’m lucky enough to have been in his circle of friends to be there along with his journey. John is one of the funniest people I know but this week I saw a different side of him. I saw pain, I saw sadness and I saw tears. I saw a side of him I have never seen in the past 25+ years. Sometimes even the funniest of people cry and you need to know how to handle that. It caught me off guard at first, and I’m thankful I was there. There to help comfort and help maybe be some relief from a super painful moment. No one is ever prepared for the loss of a loved one.

John thank you. Thank you for allowing me in the circle and for showing me a different side of you.

Kids – we all need to be a little more like John. This world needs more people like John in it!

Mother’s Day Traditions

Hey, kids, it’s Dad. today is Mother’s Day. I want to talk to you about Mother’s Day traditions in the Clifford home. I would love to know what you do for mother’s day? How do you show respect and love for your mom on this special day? Moms rock!

Care Givers and Mother’s Day

What a awesome Mother’s day was celebrated in the Clifford Household. I have an amazing mom, and 2 wonderful moms of my kids. I’m truly blessed in that regard.

In church on Sunday, Becky was asked to give a talk on mother’s day of all things. Her message was very powerful and left a mark with me. She talked about the role of moms and while I was listening to her speak, I thought about all the motherly characterizes that moms have… follow me here. There are plenty of women in the world, who do not have kids of their own, but who posses the same motherly characteristic of that of moms. Think about the women who are caregivers…take care of their elderly parents or serve in some other capacity. This day is for them also. I can’t help but be reminded of all those great people also. I know many people who are like that and who have the same love that my mom had. THANK YOU for taking car of people and giving back. THAT’S HUGE!

TommyLog – Moms Just Rock

When I watched replays of the winning putt at the Masters this past weekend, I could not help but notice the first person to congratulate Bubba Watson on his victory was his mother. She came running to his side and offered him a HUGE hug. He broken down in tears and they just melted there for a moment.

What an amazing outpouring of love for ones mom! We all have moms and they are so important. Moms sacrifice so much and what showed on TV needs to be played in every household in the world. We need more love and appreciation for moms and motherhood in general. Not just on mother’s day, but every day.
