TommyLog – Exciting Election Times in Wisconsin

Kids, what an exciting time it was to be in Wisconsin. The election is all people have been able to talk about since Gov Walker took office. Right, wrong he has got people attention and the recall election was the culmination of that attention. I’m not much for political ads of robo-calls, but watching the process and the passionate people on both sides tackle the issues… AMAZING!

Sadly one has to win and the other, well they are less of a winner as the politically correct crowd may say.

One way or another, it was fun to be a part of this election. Cheers to the winner, and see you in November for the next presidential election!

TommyLog – Air Show Goodness

This weekend was just tops…. Cheesefest parade, kids, and the Manitowoc Air Show. Tommy and I just had the BEST time at the air show together. Father son time is just the best and such a blessing. Kid time in general is a blessing, but when you get one on one time… BONUS!

TommyLog – Oh @PostCrescent – The Storm You Started

Oh what a storm the @PostCrescent has started with what seemed like a harmless article in the Saturday edition of their newspaper. The president of the PC, Genia Lovett wrote a column titled “Post-Crescent journalists shouldn’t have signed Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker recall petitions” The piece really opens up a can of worms in my mind. This is such a polarizing article or editorial, not sure what to call it actually. The article leads with talk about journalistic integrity and transparency. The discussion about bias and what employees can and can’t do on their free time also touched upon. You MUST look at the comments.

I could not get enough of the comments, refreshing my browser several times a day to see the new ones. I spend a good part of the day calling and texting friends to see if they had seen the article and to get their take. I needed a second opinion to see if I was way off base thinking this was blowing up to be huge. Well I was not far off base at all.

All seemed well till I saw that this article written by Genia, was not really written by Genia. The same article showed up on the Green Bay and Fond du Lac newspapers also *facepalm*. OH NO!

I love the PC. I read it daily and have MANY great friends who work at the PC. I love what they do and how hard they work. This reflects so poorly on those great people!

Such food for thought about the constitutional rights of employees and then this…

What happened to transparency? Or is this the new transparency?

Sadly the message of the article is lost on the method in which it was distributed.

TommyLog – I Support FVTC and TECHWORKS

If you know anything about me, you know that I’m passionate about so many things. Over the past few months, with my daughter exploring colleges, education is now one of my passions. Good schools are not hard to find, but good schools WHERE you need them are. In this day and age, we need to be surrounded by the best schools. New, well trained students are the lifeblood of our society and we need this expansion of Fox Valley Technical College.

Please VOTE YES on April 3rd
