TommyLog TECH – LG G4 & Chromecast – Match Made in Heaven #VZWBuzz #ad

Hey kids, it’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog Tech, I want to talk to you about my Google Chromecast and how I use it in my daily life. Joining me along with the Chromecast is my trusty LG G4 smartphone. You’ll remember I did a Tommylog Tech on the Google Chromcast earlier. http://tommylog.com/tommylog-tech-demystifying-the-google-chromecast-vzwbuzz/

As you know by now, the Chromecast all by itself is fairly useless. It’s amazing tech but it needs a companion device; smartphone, tablet desktop or laptop to show its true potential. Unlike other streaming devices, the Chromecast has no remote. It relies on your companion smartphone, tablet etc. to be its remote. Here’s where the LG G4 comes in. The LG G4 has a secret weapon that makes it a perfect companion to the Google Chromecast. An IR Blaster.

What an IR Blaster? An IR blaster is a device, in this case the LG G4 that allows it to mimic the functionality of your TV, DVD, Blu-ray or other remote control. Most remote controls work of infrared or IR for short. The G4 has built in IR capabilities and software that allows the smartphone to learn the remote’s commands and control each device as if it was their original remote.

So now when I watch TV in my bedroom, I have just my LG G4 in my hand to turn the TV on, control changing inputs, and volume control. Could not be easier.

The LG g4 and Google Chromecast is a match made in heaven and is 100% Tommy Approved!

New North Social Media Breakfast

Tommy attended his first New North Social Media Breakfast. #NNSMB This one was held in Little Chute and was sponsored by WFRV. There was a super cast of characters on the panel and some donuts to boot. What a country. Yesterday I went to Red Shoes PR to film a few more episodes of Red Shoes Speaks. One of the topics we talked about was filing systems and are we digital hoarders? What do you think? Can you toss emails and files, or do you just keep them till you run out of HD space?
