This long labor day weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to Phoenix to see family and spend some time with a few long lost Verizon influencers. I just had to meet Sara Hawkins and what fun would it be to do a TommyLog video with her. So I did.
I took some viewer emails and let Sara join in on the fun.
Here’s the questions:
1 – Top High School pro horror story?
2 – 3 tech items you can’t live without?
3 – How do you like your eggs cooked?
4- Home on the couch or night on the town?
What a TREAT it was to meet Sara and spend the morning with her in her hood. My life was blessed to meet her in person!
You can find more about Sara here — http://www.savingforsomeday.com/ or here http://sarafhawkins.com/
OK kids it’s Tommy and I have been playing with Periscope with much success. So since I was given a new LG G4 from my friends at Verizon I decided to do a few Periscopes and have a Q&A about it. I’m pleased with the response and I can’t wait to do the next one!
Hey kids, for today’s TommyLog Tech, I want to give you some initial impressions of my new LG G4 that my good friends at Verizon provided.. Huge thanks go out to them!
The first thing I love about this phone is the camera. The G4 has a 16MP rear facing camera as well as a 8MP front facing camera. The camera software even has a fully manual mode where you can set the white balance, exposure even ISO. People who like to dink with settings will love that.
Next thing that I noticed is the speed. Geekbench rates this Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 808 processor, 1.8GHz 64-bit Hexa-Core CPU as one of the fastest Android phones on the market with single-core score of 1142 and multi-core of 3545. Launching and moving from app to app feels almost seamless. The screen takes a lot of horsepower to move that many pixels so it better be fast.
Next topic that stands out is the sound and Holy Cow– is the sound that comes out of this tiny handset just HUGE. I mean amazing. I have never heard sound like this come out of a smartphone like that. How LG manage to pack a Marshall Stack in a battery operated, pocket-sized handset like this I’ll never know!
Lastly there’s a feature called QRemote. The G4 has a built in IR blaster so I can control my TV, DVR as well as my Apple TV. The thing that caught my eye is when configuring the remote, the G4 got my TV and set top box on the first try. it literally took me seconds from launching the software to controlling my entire entertainment center with the G4. Love that!
The bonus thing that I couldn’t help but notice is the screen. WOW OH WOW– is this screen just drop dead gorgeous! Hello, 5.5 inches of AMOLED goodness! This 2560 x 1440 screen yields 538 PPI and the colors are bright and amazing.
So far the LG G4 is totally 100% Tommy Approved! Stay tuned for more videos as I dive even deeper into using this baby.
STAY TUNED for more G4 goodness– not only did they send me a handset to test and play with, they also gave me one to GIVE AWAY on my blog. HOW COOL IS THAT???!!
Stay tuned to my next TommyLog TECH as I set up and play with the LG G4 and we will see if it’s Tommy Approved!

Hey kids, It’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog Tech I want to welcome my fellow Verizon friend Michelle to the TommyLog studios. Michelle was passing through town and I thought, Lets talk about ways we can solve problems using our Verizon phones. I’m sporting the DROID Turbo by Motorola and Michelle is using her trusty Samsung Galaxy Note 3, both provided by our good friends at Verizon.
If you’re looking for inexpensive help or unique gift ideas you should check out Fiverr.com. Michelle and I both have the app downloaded on our Verizon mobile devices, which makes browsing, buying and selling incredibly easy no matter where you are.
Fiverr sellers can offer any service or product (called a gig) and the price is capped at $5.00 per gig (sellers can offer add-on options for an additional $5.00).
Using Fiverr is slightly different than using a Virtual Assistant because you’re buying a specific one-time gig from an individual. At just $5.00 per gig it’s a low-risk way to get focused help from sellers around the world.
There are so many things offered on the site that you can (and will) get so sucked in! Some items are practical – such as getting a logo or a YouTube intro designed. Others are more whimsical – such as getting a photo of your name drawn in the sand.
Michelle first started ordering gigs on the site back in 2010 and it’s grown exponentially including being much easier to navigate by the type of service you’re looking for. One of the things she enjoys most is seeing how creative sellers are with the ways they can earn money.
I had my TommyLog Tech logo created for $5. A few dollars more for high res layered and vector artwork as well as my YouTube info – another $5. It’s pretty amazing what you can get done for a mere five bucks.
As with most things perform your own due diligence and read through the reviews, check the typical response rate, on-time delivery and other seller data available on the profiles.
Is Fiverr.com Tommy Approved? You bet it is – 100% Tommy Approved…Michelle Approved too!
