TommyLog – How Do You Want To be Remembered

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s Tommy log I want to talk to you about an experience I had last week. Last week a friend of the family lost his son. His son was struggling with some health issues in recent years. He was only 53 years old.

The service was held at Appleton alliance church. This is a much different congregation then I’m used to going to at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because this was a new church, I wanted to arrive early, get my bearings – – pay my respects and give my condolences to the father.

The music was beautiful as was the message. But things were very different. During the eulogy I was told about a man who was star running back on his high school and college football teams. Was a community leader and branch manager of a financial institution here in town. But when I looked around I got sad. I saw less than 50 people at the service. I just didn’t understand.

As I do at many memorial services I kind of sit back and reflect on my own life. I sat back and thought what would people say about me. Here is this man and all he gets is an hour. His 53 years all summed up in music and spoken word lasts about an hour. He wasn’t some mega A-list celebrity and won’t  get a huge memorial service. He probably will not have a building named after him – – and won’t have a star on the walk of fame.

What is your legacy going to be? You’re only going to get an hour – – what will people say about you?

This really hit me hard. I don’t know why. I don’t know why am so concerned. But I am. I love you all. And I’m thankful to be your dad.

TommyLog – One Door Closes – Another Door Opens

Hey Kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you a little bit about 2016. 2016 was A good year. A lot of learning, a lot of change. Change makes us stronger. When one door closes, another door opens. I’ve had some wonderful opportunities in 2016. A couple great jobs. Sadly one job job ended. All out of my control. I’ve had some amazing opportunities come since I’ve been laid off. The Lord has watched over the Clifford family. Tom Clifford’s network has come out in spades. So many great people have come to help. Jobs and opportunities have come out of the woodwork. I’m thankful for each and every person who is reached out to us. We had an amazing Christmas. Was it easy? No it was not. But that makes us stronger.

Had an amazing job offer come in yesterday. I’m super excited. It’s a part-time gig, but it’s going allow me to grow. And last night a couple other possibilities formed. Don’t know where they are going – – but it will be fun to watch. I am very blessed.

Just remember, when one door closes, another door opens up wider and brighter. I’m so excited to be a part of 2017 and for the amazing things that are in store for the Clifford family!

TommyLog- Don’t Let Others Dull Your Shine

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about people in your life who bring you down. I like to call him “fun suckers!”

They’re all kinds of people in this world – –  we need to make sure that we surround ourselves with only the best. The best leaders, the best teachers, the best friends and the best kids!

Our Time is a premium. We cannot afford to surround ourselves with people who bring us down. We may have a boss or coworker who just doesn’t bring out the best in us. We need to rid ourselves of those people. What they think and what they say just doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. We need to rid ourselves of those “fun suckers!”

Don’t let others dull our shine!

Tommylog TECH – Microsoft XBOX One S Unboxing #XBOXHolidays #AD

Hey Kids it’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog TECH I must tell you a little story. A couple days ago one of Santas elves at Microsoft called me up and said “Hey Tommy would you be willing to do an unboxing video of our new Xbox One S??”

“I’m like – HELLO!!! Sure send it on over.” So here I am in the TommyLog studios doing an unboxing video of the brand-new Xbox one S provided to me by my great friends at Microsoft. My opinions are my own. This thing is just gorgeous.

If you’re in the market for a high-end gaming system, now is the best time to look. The price has never been better – – you can get it for $250 from now until Christmas. Almost every store has it on sale.

Do you have a 4K TV under the Christmas tree this year? If you do and you’re looking for an ultra Blu-ray player – – look no further. This is the best ultra Blu-ray player plus you get all the Xbox one technology built in. You get a killer gaming system and a killer Blu-ray player. What could be better than that?

I received the Minecraft edition of the Xbox One S. It includes a 500 GB hard drive and all the accessories to get you up and running on Christmas morning. It comes with that power cable, HDMI cable, the unit and one controller. Note if you have games that require more than one player, you’ll have to buy an additional controller.

I’m pretty sure there will be a big heap of software updates and downloads before you actually start using this. I’m going to take it out and make sure it’s all up to date Christmas Eve before the kids get it in the morning.

If you want a XBOX One S for your self this holiday season, just click here.

TommyLog – Find Common Ground!

Hey Kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk about the 2016 election. Talking politics tears families apart, tears friends apart, and does absolutely no good. Social media has become a minefield. It is just horrible what is happening!!

The election is over!

We need to find common ground!

We need to spend more time serving others and trying to solve problems. Everybody has an opinion, but few get swayed by the arguments that are going on. It’s crazy. We have a brand-new President elect. Whether you like it or not that office deserves our respect. We need to line up behind him and make sure that he is successful. I want him to fail just about as much as I want the pilot of my plane to crash land. We need to succeed. We need to succeed together.

The only way we can do it is to find common ground!
