P-Mate – For the Ladies

example03.jpg

What the….?
I’m not sure why you can’t just cut up a bottle or something, but the P-Mate is the latest in feminine empowerment aids. It’s a foldable pee pee that you can pee through and then throw away. Why would you want this, you ask? Well:

This is a revolutionary product that has taken Europe by storm. It allows women to pee standing up, just like the boys, giving a whole new slant on equal rights for women.

Now you ladies can really stick it to the man, provided the cardboard stands up to your frantic poundings .

Lock bumping revisited

bumping

I haven’t really been into lock picking, but after seeing the “bumping” demo from
What the Hack I was shocked. The technique is really quick and will work on 90% of locks you’ll come across. You need to create a bump key, also know as a 999 key. This is made by cutting down a key (that fits the lock) to the deepest setting (pictured). Then a little bit of metal is removed from the tip of the key and the shoulder. You insert the key into the lock and because of the removed metal you can give the key a little whack and the key will travel slightly farther into the key way driving the pins vertically.
That’s it! Here is a white paper on the subject that will clear it up a little more. Here is the full video from WTH. If you want to skip ahead to 51 minutes you’ll see Barry demo cutting down a key and bumping a lock in about 3 minutes. At 1:02 Han presents bump proof locks TOOOL has tested. Fabienne will be covering some more interesting stuff from WTH on Friday.

OS X Intel Boot speeds impressive

At least in this video (warning, Windows Media file ahoy!) the boot time is smokin’. The videographer was kind enough to show OS X booting on both a Dell (am I the only one that shivers every time he thinks about OS X running on a Dell box?) and a Powerbook for a little unscientific benchmarking.

First off, a desktop machine is generally going to be faster than a laptop no matter the type of processor inside (an over simplification I know, but in general this rule works) and the Powerbook is most likely not running a clean install of OS X as the Dell machine is. All that being said, I am looking forward to the Intel Macs now more than ever.

I want one now, Uncle Steve!
