Dinner 10 Years in the Making

Hey, kids, it’s Dad. and for today’s Tommy log I’m so excited. I can’t believe it. Social media is such an amazing tool. Let me explain.

Nearly 10 years ago while using Twitter I saw a request looking for someone who could help edit videos. I replied to that request. A business transaction took place. I digitally met Kelli Claypool and I have been friends. We have been chatting back-and-forth on social media for almost 10 years. Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet her in person. The stars aligned and she was interviewing for a position at the company that I work for. How awesome is that! We had the opportunity to meet and go to dinner and have ice cream and talk and talk and talk. We talked about relationships, we talked about our families. We talked about her being a cancer survivor. It was absolutely over the moon amazing. How do these things happen? I have no idea! But what I knew do know is that social media fosters amazing relationships.

Kids, social media is different today than it was 10 years ago. No doubt about that. But when used properly, great things can happen. Never overlook the opportunity to make relationships. You never know!

TommyLog – Things Just Don’t Happen

Hey Kids it’s Dad. Today I’m uploading a video I taped in Phoenix, AZ last year.

I went to Phoenix to meet a long time social media friend and to teach a class with some of her real estate colleagues. I met her family and we broke bread together. We went family grocery shopping together. We’re teaching a class together. How does this happen?
How do you go from social media friends to business partners? How does something like this happen? It doesn’t! The man upstairs has a plan. If you think for a second that all these pieces of the puzzle just happen to come together – – you’re not paying attention.

The good Lord knows exactly what he’s doing! It’s our job to pay attention and to highlight these things. Things don’t just happen!

TommyLog – How Relationships Mold You!

Hey kids, it’s Dad and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk about how relationships mold you and how important they are in your life.

It’s all about relationships! Never forget that!

TommyLog – I’ve been laid off! FREE AGENT TOMMY

Hey kids – Hey Everyone – It’s Tommy and for today’s TommyLog,  I need to tell you something that’s not easy to share. Last week I was laid off at work. It was a low work situation and I was sacrificed for the good of the other workers. I understand it’s a business decision and I have to move on. I have utmost respect for that decision and I will miss my coworkers dearly. They were my work family and I really enjoyed each and everyone of them.

So today the new Tommy comes out– the new and improved Tommy!

I want to introduce TRC Media which is going to be my new company. I don’t know completely what it is, I’m still framing what it looks like. But I need to take my skills and I need to start solving problems for other people. I want to start immediately. As my buddy from Tommy Boy said “I got nothing but free time.”

So I’m reaching out to my network near and far. You of all watched my videos, many of you know of the social media influencing work that I do for some pretty big companies. Do you need help what you’re doing? How can I help you? Social Media,  Print,  Video,  Web –whatever it happens to be,  I can help.

I can connect you to the right people if needs be – let’s make this happen. Let’s start solving problems. No time to be down, no time to be depressed, only great things ahead. My network is just so amazing and it’s time for me to lean on you!

You know how to get a hold of me –all my channels are open -my ears are on. No project is too small– let’s talk, let’s meet, let’s Skype -let’s Facebook!

Let’s make this happen. You are awesome!!!

TommyLog – Just Doing My Thing

So how does this happen? Father of five who just starts doing videos about five or six years ago for my kids. One maybe two videos a week adds up pretty quickly. Now I have about 1000 videos on YouTube and companies like Verizon ford Microsoft the Atlanta convention visitors Bureau start stirring. All have reached out to me and want me to be part of their social media hustle.

How amazing is that??

So the moral of today story kids is this. Just do your thing and others will find it great. You don’t set out to make this thing huge, just do your thing and let other people turn it around to make it huge. I am so blessed and so thankful the people who support me and love me each and every day. I’m thankful for a great family who loves me and allows me to have these fun little trips.

What an amazing journey!
