TommyLog – The Home Life vs Work Balance

This week I had a very thought provoking chat with my friend Lisa @lisaredshoespr and Melissa regarding home life / work balance. In this day and age, is there really a life work balance? You have so many distractions, cell, web, TV, social media. is there balance anymore? Is your work just a 9 to 5 job? Can you just turn off work?

I’ve Been Lied To!

I have been lied to. I don’t take this lightly. I give out my trust easy but once it’s broken, IT’S OVER!!! Anyone remember the scene in Heat where Robert DeNiro is talking to a guy who lied to him and he told him he was “talking to an empty telephone.”  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOtaiiFJ1Wc

That’s how I feel now. I’ve been deceived, I’ve been hurt all because, I have been lied to.

I thought they were my friends, I thought they were looking out for my family…

lies

lies

lies!

Please just leave my life as fast as possible.

TommyLog – Your Work Ethic

I was readying an article about fast food employees picketing due to the low wages. Why would you picket and complain about the low wages of an entry level job? Seriously? I had an entry level job…WHEN I WAS 16!! I used it as a stepping stone to get a better job, and then a better job and so on. This is truly pathetic!!

I’m so glad my work ethic was taught to me by my father. We had some hard times growing up, but my father was never above temp work..whatever it took to keep things running in the Clifford household.

Do not hide behind your entry level job… you control your destiny, not the government.

TommyLog – 100 People in Line

Went to pay respects to a long time co-worker who passed away unexpectedly last weekend. When I arrived at the funeral home, there were over 80+ people in line and when I left the line was darn near out the door! What an amazing tribute to a great father, super husband and just all around nice guy! Working with someone for 14 years, you draw close.

I am at such a loss for words. What do you say to the kids and wife? Sadly no hallmark cards do justice. Really makes you think about your own life, legacy and how you act and treat others. Dave was a great example and it showed by the turn out.

Till we meet again David!
