TommyLog – Saying I’m Sorry

Sometimes saying you are sorry can be the hardest part of being a dad, but it’s one of the most important things to do. You cannot be 100% right all the time and admitting you are wrong seems to put things into perspective. I’m not a fan of being wrong, but when I am…admitting it helps solve many problems. One of the big parts of being a father is learning from your mistakes. Saying sorry is key to that process!

TommyLog – Family Togetherness

Just like on my new favorite show Duck Dynasty, a family that plays together, stays together. What would the world be like if we actually loved to be around our parents and didn’t spend every waking moment trying to get away from our families?

I want to make my home as inviting as possible. One that friends want to be around. I also love the extended family prayer at the end of every episode. That’s how I want to live my life!

TommyLog – State Champions

I know my first Tommylog of 2013 is LONG overdue. What an amazing weekend I had. Clara’s Kick and Pom team win 1st place in the state wide JAM Tournament in Sheboygan. What a proud dads moment to see your little girl, dance her heard out and really do amazing. Today is also the national holiday of Dr. Martin Luther King as well as the inauguration of President Obama. Such a great day for all America regardless of how you voted, the process works and for one day we can be thankful!

TommyLog – 100 People in Line

Went to pay respects to a long time co-worker who passed away unexpectedly last weekend. When I arrived at the funeral home, there were over 80+ people in line and when I left the line was darn near out the door! What an amazing tribute to a great father, super husband and just all around nice guy! Working with someone for 14 years, you draw close.

I am at such a loss for words. What do you say to the kids and wife? Sadly no hallmark cards do justice. Really makes you think about your own life, legacy and how you act and treat others. Dave was a great example and it showed by the turn out.

Till we meet again David!

TommyLog – Things are not as they seem…

Kids, we live in a day and age where people will say and act in a way that’s deceptive. It’s hard to separate the truth from the false. So many stories and so many people telling us what we want to hear. Both at work and on TV. How do we know? You need to trust your heart. If that’s not good enough, trust in the Lord. He has yet to let us down.
