Coming Together as a Family!

Hey kids, it’s Dad. For today’s Tommylog I want to tell you what a crazy few days it has been. Christmas came and went and Tommy just wasn’t his fun healthy self. He had been complaining about tummy issues for about a month. Food just would not stay down and he was generally miserable. Well, Wednesday started off with a series of tests which included a CT scan and ultrasound and ended with Tommy getting emergency gallbladder surgery Thursday afternoon…. one-year and one day after I had my gallbladder out. Weird right!

When the chips are down, the true colors of people show. Even though Mom and I are not married, we can put aside our differences and work for the good of the family.

Tommy is home and resting comfortably. We are certainly blessed for that.

I am so thankful for coming together as a family!

I Didn’t Get the Job!

Hey kids, it’s Dad. For today’s Tommylog I want to talk to you about something really great that happen before Thanksgiving. I had the opportunity to apply for a newly opened team lead position at ESKO. I was scared to throw my hat in the ring but I did it. The process was amazing. I was taken seriously the minute I mentioned it to my boss. I talk to my boss in the hiring manager. I even got to have a face-to-face second interview with the hiring manager. What an amazing process. It’s great to work for a company that looks internally for great people and wants to capitalize, showcase and nurture talent.

I didn’t get the job. But that’s OK! The real win here is the fact that I was taken seriously. The management at ESKO knows I’m interested in growth opportunities. They know I don’t want to be a screw turner the rest of my life. They listen to my ideas and I’m excited about the future. The guy who got the job is absolutely spectacular and I couldn’t be more happy for him. I support him 100%.

The people at ESKO are on notice!

Tommy is coming and he’s looking for more responsibility and the opportunity to manage people. I’m thrilled for the doors that are opening up for me.

Make it STOP – Black Friday Madness!

Hey kids, it’s dad. For today’s Tommylog I wanna talk to you about Thanksgiving. I have so many things to be thankful for. We had a wonderful time together. One thing that always follows Thanksgiving it’s Black Friday. Everybody is in the mood for a great deal. It’s stunning the amount of effort people go to to be first in line into work to get these deals. It’s horrible to watch the carnage on TV. Don’t these people realize you can get the same deals online? Why do you go to all the trouble —the elbows to the face, the pushing, the shelving, the fighting? I don’t get it! It’s just horrible!

Please, please, please! Do yourself a favor. Look online. The deals in the stores aren’t that awesome anyway. I promise you. I’ve done the homework. Just stay home, order from the comfort of your warm couch and footie pajamas. You’ll get similar or even better deals.

Black Friday is horrible!

As soon as we stop going, retailers will stop hosting such horrible horrible events!

Just Put the Cart Back!

Hey kids, it’s dad. And for today’s Tommylog I wanna talk to you about something that has always been a pet peeve of mine. I enjoy going to the grocery store. But nothing burns me more than when I see people not putting shopping carts back where they go. The shopping cart corral maybe 15-20 steps further away than where people are leaving the carts.

No, I’m not talking about handicap people or people on crutches. They have a right and I understand the reason why they wouldn’t put a cart away. But these people should not have trouble putting carts where they rightfully belong. Why do you just leave the carts strewn around the parking lot? Part of the responsibility of taking a cart is putting it away. I know people think oh it’s someone else’s problem. It’s not somebody else’s problem! It’s your problem. Put the damn cart away.

Many times society we just kick the can down the road and have a be somebody else’s problem. No! Take responsibility for your actions and take care of your shopping carts!hopping Cart Away!
