TommyLog – Cousins Caught in the Middle

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about growing up and interesting Clifford family dynamics. When I grow up I didn’t spend a lot of time with my cousins. Sure we would see them at Christmas time and it birthdays, but we really never saw each other. Seeing each other at big events doesn’t really count. There was a parental dynamic involved that kept all of us from really hanging out in knowing each other as deeply as we should have. Not until the advent of Facebook have we been able to come together and be a part of each other’s lives. But just think about how much we missed!

Being a part of an extended family unit is so important. The Clifford family name ties us together. Being able to see each other in social media helps so much, but there’s a huge piece missing. We need to get together for a reunion. I need to make sure that happens.

Sometimes it’s the small things that matter most!

TommyLog – The Quieter You Become, the More You Can Hear

Hey Kids it’s Dad and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about a quote that cousin Amanda wrote on her Facebook page. The quote is this “the quieter you become the more you can hear”. I love this and this really speaks volumes.

Kids we need to be better listeners. We need to listen to other people’s opinions. We need to listen to others needs. We are constantly selling to each other. But we cannot sell if were talking over other people. I promise you the more you listen, the more you will know, and the more you understand. Thank you Amanda for your words of wisdom!! We all need to be quieter and listen more!

TommyLog – Learn to Breathe Better

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about a good friend of mine. Two years ago she suffered a loss in her household. Her dear husband passed away from a long battle with cancer. This last weekend was the anniversary of his death. I was talking with her and discussing the lost and how she deals with it. One thing she said was very strong and very poignant. She says it doesn’t get any easier to deal with it, I’ve just learned to breathe better.

I just learned to breathe better – – that is such an amazing outlook on the situation. Nothing takes the hurt away. Nothing makes it any better. You just learn how to deal with the situation and to make the best out of it. What an amazing statement from a strong woman! I’ve never had to deal with adversity like that so I can’t add much to the situation. I love how she put it.

When we are dealt with a punch that takes the wind out of her sales, we need to learn how to breathe better. Thanks Kelli for these words of wisdom!

TommyLog – Things Just Don’t Happen

Hey Kids it’s Dad. Today I’m uploading a video I taped in Phoenix, AZ last year.

I went to Phoenix to meet a long time social media friend and to teach a class with some of her real estate colleagues. I met her family and we broke bread together. We went family grocery shopping together. We’re teaching a class together. How does this happen?
How do you go from social media friends to business partners? How does something like this happen? It doesn’t! The man upstairs has a plan. If you think for a second that all these pieces of the puzzle just happen to come together – – you’re not paying attention.

The good Lord knows exactly what he’s doing! It’s our job to pay attention and to highlight these things. Things don’t just happen!

TommyLog – The Chest of Scarves

Hey Kids it’s Dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about an email I received. The email was from a dear friend. Over the years she’s accumulated a lot of scarves. Beautiful woven silk scarves. She wants to put these scarves to good use. She has a friend who is battling cancer. The scarves could go to good use. So what my friend did is build a “chest of scarves.” Along with a book on how to tie scarves, this chest filled with beautiful scarves will help this lady going through cancer feel beautiful again.

I think were touched me the most about this tender gift was the fact that it is perpetual in nature. As soon as you beat cancer, share your story and then give the chest to someone else so they can be beautiful and they can have the assistance they need to beat cancer too.

One of my favorite scriptures is this: “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom;
that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your
fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”

Such a touching reminder of great people in this world. Putting others first in such a manor – I’m blown away!
