TommyLog – It’s All About the People! #SITSum

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to continue my discussion about the Social media Influencer and Travel SUMmit #SITSum that I attended last week hosted by the Atlanta convention and visitors Bureau. I met so many amazing people. Life-changing people. People who made me smile and laugh. We learned a lot about of Atlanta. But that was really second nature.

Lifelong friendships were formed!! How does that happen in a long weekend? I haven’t got the slightest idea. But you put people together that are business minded, that are fun, that are willing to make risks. This is where the magic happens! It’s kind of like ingredients in your grandma’s chocolate chip cookies. Bring them all together and you get amazing things – – leave out something. And it’s a flop.

Thank you to all my brand-new friends. You have made an impression that will last forever. You are awesome.

Kids it’s all about the people. Never forget that.

TommyLog – Homecoming at the Airport

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I want to talk to you about something I saw while standing in the security line at the Atlanta airport.

I saw a family of cousins, uncles, nieces, boyfriends, girlfriends, mom’s, dad’s brothers and sisters all waiting for a return missionary. They had signs, they had balloons –they were all smiling they were jumping up-and-down with anticipation.

It was so awesome to watch it happen. Missionaries for our churches her for 18 months or two years. I didn’t know if this was going to be a guy or a girl getting off the plane. Traditionally you wait to be the last person off the plane and sure enough this gentleman was the last person off the plane.

It was awesome to watch and see who was the mom and who would run into his arms first. Mom got the first hug, girlfriend who would been waiting patiently for two years got the second hug. It was awesome.

Kinda made me think about what our homecoming will be like when we go to the other side. Will be waiting for us? Which ancestors love this the most will be waiting there as we go on the other side. Homecomings are sweet.

TommyLog – Preventative Maintenance in Your Life with Robyn Wright

Hey Kids it’s dad, and for today’s TommyLog I’m coming to you live and in person from the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. I’m joined by my awesome Verizon friend Robyn Wright.

We want to talk about preventive maintenance. At work there are many large complicated machines. Every two or three months we have preventive maintenance done on the machines to keep them running smoothly. We do this during downtime to take care of little issues that could potentially become big issues if they’re not taking care of properly. Just like your vehicle, getting the oil changed is something that’s important on a regular basis. In life we need to also do preventive maintenance. No matter if it’s some downtime, a vacation, or just a family dinner. We also need to make sure to take care of our bodies. A check up our yearly check up is important. We need to watch over ourselves!

Preventive maintenance is important. Never forget that.

Thank you Robyn for doing this video with me. It’s always a pleasure to be around you. You bring the best out of everybody. You can find more about Robyn at www.Robynsonlineworld.com, or @Robynsworld on Twitter. YOU ROCK!

TommyLog – Just Doing My Thing

So how does this happen? Father of five who just starts doing videos about five or six years ago for my kids. One maybe two videos a week adds up pretty quickly. Now I have about 1000 videos on YouTube and companies like Verizon ford Microsoft the Atlanta convention visitors Bureau start stirring. All have reached out to me and want me to be part of their social media hustle.

How amazing is that??

So the moral of today story kids is this. Just do your thing and others will find it great. You don’t set out to make this thing huge, just do your thing and let other people turn it around to make it huge. I am so blessed and so thankful the people who support me and love me each and every day. I’m thankful for a great family who loves me and allows me to have these fun little trips.

What an amazing journey!

TommyLog – Best to Just Say Nothing

Hey Kids it’s dad, and today I’m coming to you live from Atlanta Georgia. I’m staying at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. I was invited to a social media travel conference where social media influences from around the country come together learn, share and grow. First time of ever been invited to something like this, very cool.

So today I want to share with you something I heard the other day. It goes like this. “Sometimes the hardest thing to say is nothing”. What a powerful statement. Many times you get picked on many times people go against you. But sometimes you just need to say nothing. Don’t give them any ammo! Don’t bring a flamethrower the party –just walk away.

So when things are getting you down what you feel you really have a real struggle, just turn the other cheek and walk away. Our Savior taught us and it’s never more important than now.
